SFA Guest Booking Procedure: COVID-19 Update 05 November 2020

On Thursday 5 November 2020, the new national COVID-19 restrictions will be applied across the Chicksands site until at least 2 December 2020. The restrictions are underpinned by law and are aimed at limiting the spread of COVID-19.

In line with the new restrictions, the routine for booking visitors onto the site has to change: we must be fully compliant with the law; we must protect our staff and their families from the spread of the virus; we have a duty of care to ensure that we record visitors to the site for tracking purposes; and we must protect the essential business of delivering trained personnel to Defence and the essential outputs of the lodging units at Chicksands.

To this extent, on-site personnel living in either service families accommodation (SFA) or single living accommodation (SLA) must comply with the following routines for booking visitors onto the site:

Visitors to SFA

  • One person living in SFA may meet one visitor outdoors. The guardroom staff will allow one visitor at a time for each SFA. The visitor must not enter the applicant’s SFA and they will not be permitted to stay overnight. Day visitors may be booked in directly with the guardroom staff.

  • Personnel living in SFA may form one support bubble. This bubble must be exclusive (neither half of the bubble should belong to another bubble). One half of the support bubble must either be someone who lives alone, or a single parent with children. Claimed support bubbles with two adults in both halves of the bubble do not conform to Government guidelines.

  • Each SFA may book their exclusive support bubble onto the site to stay overnight in their SFA. The booking must be made on the ‘request for a guest to stay overnight in SFA’ form (attached), and the completed form sent to JITG-COVID19@mod.gov.uk at least 48 hours in advance of your visitor’s arrival.

Please note that visitors who haven’t been properly booked onto the site in accordance with the instructions above will be turned away. If your individual circumstances do no match the instructions, please contact JITG-COVID19@mod.gov.uk for advice. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter – the restrictions will be relaxed as soon as further instructions are issued by the Government.
